What bursaries are available?

Limited bursary support is available to assist candidates with some of the costs of achieving a Post Qualifying or Advanced Award in Social Work. The criteria for bursary awards made through GLPQ are reviewed regularly – details of the current criteria and application assessment dates for the coming year can be downloaded from this site.

Bursaries will normally be considered towards the following:

Registration fees

A limited number of bursaries are normally available as a contribution to the cost of registering for the Post Qualifying and Advanced Awards in Social Work. Eligibility for support under this category partly depends upon whether your employer is a subscribing member of GLPQ Consortium — see the eligibility section of this page for further details.

Other costs

Once your application to register has been accepted by GLPQ Consortium, further bursary support may be available to assist with the tuition fees of a course accredited within the PQ Awards Framework.

Candidates following the Supported Learning Route may apply for a bursary towards the cost of employing a mentor or for portfolio assessment fees.

Special allowances may be available for candidates suffering financial hardship or who have special needs.

How do I apply for a bursary?

Bursary forms are normally enclosed in the Candidate Registration Packs.

If you are registering for the first time with GLPQ Consortium and applying for bursary support, your completed bursary forms should be returned to GLPQ at the same time as your registration forms and other supporting documentation.

If your bursary application includes a request for tuition fee support or for support towards the costs associated with the preparation of portfolios, the Employers Nomination Form enclosed with the bursary application form will also be required. This is to be completed by your Training Manager.

How do I know if I am eligible for a bursary?

All candidates working in Greater London who are eligible to register for a Post-Qualifying or Advanced Award may apply for a bursary. The level and category of support available will partly depend upon whether your employer is a subscribing member of GLPQ Consortium. All applications are considered on an individual basis.

Bursaries towards Registration Fees are normally available to employees of organisations who are members of GLPQ Consortium. Employees of non-member organisations will not normally be eligible for bursaries.

Independent candidates may in certain circumstances be eligible for support for registration fee bursaries where they are either self-employed or unemployed.
